Christine Taylor Says Therapy and Pandemic Helped Rebuild Marriage With Ben Stiller

Christine Taylor opened up about her past separation from husband Ben Stiller and how they later reunited.

Speaking on the McBride Rewind podcast, Taylor said deciding to separate in 2017 was “very difficult” and “not light.” She explained that despite their split, they stayed close while co-parenting their two children, Ella and Quinlin.

Taylor said the COVID-19 pandemic helped bring them back together. The family spent lockdown together, and she and Stiller began attending therapy sessions over Zoom. “We really found the way back,” she said.

She also said people often see separation as a failure, but believes relationships can recover if both people are willing to work on themselves. “Long-term marriages are a lot of work,” Taylor added.

The couple, who married in 2000 after meeting in 1999, reunited during the pandemic. Stiller confirmed their reconciliation in a 2022 Esquire interview.

The actors also discussed their relationship struggles in the 2025 documentary Stiller & Meara: Nothing Is Lost. In the film, Stiller admitted he felt “out of balance and unhappy” during that period of his life, while Taylor said public pressure and family history added strain to their marriage.
