DARA Makes History as “Bangaranga” Becomes Global Hit After Eurovision Win

Bulgarian singer DARA has made history after winning Eurovision 2026 with her song “Bangaranga.” The 27-year-old star scored 516 points in the competition and has now become the first Bulgarian artist to enter the Billboard Global 200 chart.

The song, written by famous producer Dimitris Kontopoulos, debuted on the worldwide streaming chart this week. DARA also ranked No. 90 among the world’s most popular artists across more than 200 regions.

On May 27, DARA celebrated the achievement by posting a video on social media showing herself jumping on a couch and raising a glass of white wine. Since her Eurovision win on May 16, she has shared many moments from her busy schedule, including meeting fans, appearing on The Voice of Bulgaria, and attending talks about Eurovision 2027 with Bulgaria’s Prime Minister.

Fans have also been asking about the meaning of “Bangaranga.” In a post on Instagram, DARA explained that the phrase was inspired by ancient Bulgarian ritual performers believed to chase away evil spirits. She said the song’s message is about choosing love over fear and overcoming anxiety and doubt.
