Speaking on Hot Ones, Blunt explained that her character, a Kansas City TV meteorologist, gradually begins speaking in a mysterious non-human language after being affected by an extraterrestrial force. Instead of using AI-generated sounds, she recorded a variety of unusual noises herself, including clicks, humming, breathing patterns, and other vocal effects. The film’s sound designer later combined the recordings to create the final alien-like voice.
Disclosure Day will be released in theaters on June 12. The film stars Blunt alongside Josh O’Connor, Colin Firth, Eve Hewson, Colman Domingo, Wyatt Russell, and Henry Lloyd-Hughes. The story centers on humanity learning that it is not alone in the universe.
Blunt also praised Spielberg during the interview, calling Jaws her favorite film of all time. She said she admires the director’s ability to combine large-scale storytelling with strong emotional themes.
Separately, Blunt revealed that her most frightening filming experience was on Mary Poppins Returns, where she had to be suspended high above the ground by wires for a flying scene. She said the experience left her terrified and she stopped after only a few takes.
