In a new interview on The New York Times' Popcast, Rodrigo said she tries not to pay attention to online speculation, including recent rumors sparked when she and Swift were seen leaving the same Paul McCartney concert in Los Angeles. She said focusing on every theory about her life would be overwhelming and that she has learned to detach from public scrutiny.
Addressing claims of tension with Swift, Rodrigo said she does not dwell on the issue. “It was so long ago,” she said, adding that she prefers to focus on making music she loves and being supportive of others.
Rodrigo has long cited Swift as a major influence. However, questions about their relationship have persisted since Rodrigo added songwriting credits to some of her Sour songs after comparisons were made to tracks by Swift, Paramore, and others. Rodrigo previously said the situation was confusing and largely handled by their teams.
She also dismissed past rumors that her 2023 hit “Vampire” was about Swift, saying she does not reveal who her songs are about. Rodrigo reiterated that she has “no beef with anyone” and prefers to keep her personal life private.
