Grizz Chapman, Beloved ‘30 Rock’ Actor, Dies at 52


Grizz Chapman, the actor best known for playing Grizz on the NBC comedy series 30 Rock, has died at age 52.

His representative, Saideh A. Brown, confirmed to TMZ that Chapman died Friday. No cause of death was announced.

Chapman appeared in 80 episodes of 30 Rock alongside Kevin Brown, who played Dot Com. The pair portrayed loyal members of Tracy Jordan’s entourage on the hit sitcom. Chapman’s character became a fan favorite for his calm and thoughtful personality.

Kevin Brown paid tribute on Facebook, writing, “I regret to inform you that Mack Chapman, a.k.a. Grizz Chapman, passed today. May he RIP.”

Before acting, Chapman worked as a bouncer and met comedian Tracy Morgan years before joining 30 Rock in 2006. He later appeared in films including Money Monster and The Cobbler, and TV shows such as The Blacklist, Blue Bloods, and The Good Fight.

Chapman had previously spoken publicly about living with kidney disease and receiving a kidney transplant in 2010.

He is survived by his wife, Diana, and their two children.
