Gwyneth Paltrow Says Years-Old Betrayal Still Leaves Her With ‘Wrath’

Gwyneth Paltrow opened up about a past betrayal during the May 26 episode of the Goop podcast, where she spoke with psychotherapist Esther Perel about trust and relationships.

Paltrow, 53, said someone in her inner circle broke her trust several years ago and that she still feels strong anger about it. Although she did not reveal who was involved or provide details, she said the experience continues to affect her.

She asked Perel whether such intense feelings are common after being betrayed. Perel said they are, explaining that a breach of trust can also make people lose confidence in their own judgment and become more wary of others.

The conversation later shifted to infidelity and whether couples can rebuild trust after cheating. Perel said recovery is possible, but not for everyone. She also noted that people experience betrayal differently, with some finding a one-night affair just as painful as a long-term relationship outside the partnership.

Paltrow did not identify the person she was referring to when discussing the betrayal.
