Jodie Sweetin Open to Returning to Full House, Says Residual Pay Is Very Low

Jodie Sweetin says she would return to the Full House world in the future, mainly because of the memories and the people involved.

Sweetin, now 44, spoke on the McBride Rewind podcast about her role as Stephanie Tanner. She started on Full House when she was just 5 years old and stayed on the show from 1987 to 1995. She later returned for the sequel series Fuller House, which ran from 2016 to 2020.

Even though some actors try to move on from famous roles, Sweetin said she still feels connected to the show. She joked that a future version could be called “Fuller Fullest House,” with the cast much older. She added that she would be open to coming back, even many years from now, especially because of her long relationships with the cast.

Sweetin said the show means a lot to fans and gives people a sense of comfort and nostalgia. She said she now better understands how Full House connects people to a “younger, safer” time in their lives.

She also spoke honestly about money from the show. Sweetin said residual payments—money actors get when shows are replayed—are very small now. She even received a check for just one cent. She explained that streaming has changed how actors get paid, and there is little income from older shows.

According to Sweetin, her finances are not as glamorous as some might think. She said she drives a used car, rents her home, and sometimes struggles financially. Like many actors, she said income can be unpredictable, and there are times when she needs regular work to get by.

Overall, Sweetin said she is grateful for Full House and would happily be part of it again if the chance comes.
