“I’ve made the very difficult decision to leave General Hospital,” Mansi said, citing new projects and the need for flexibility as her husband, producer Matt McInnis, works on an overseas series.
Mansi said the role was especially meaningful because it allowed her to portray an LGBTQ+ character and help tell an endometriosis storyline. “Together, I truly feel we honored both of those stories in a way that mattered,” she said, also thanking executive producer Frank Valentini, ABC and the show’s writers.
The actress recently spoke publicly about her own endometriosis diagnosis, revealing she endured severe pain while filming Days of Our Lives before undergoing surgery performed by her stepfather, an OB-GYN. Before her exit, Mansi directed a General Hospital episode centered on Kristina discussing her struggle with endometriosis.
“It’s been such a meaningful and unforgettable ride,” Mansi said of her time on the ABC soap.
