Speaking on the SHE MD podcast on May 5, the 70-year-old entrepreneur said doctors first noticed a very small spot on one of her ovaries during a routine Prenuvo full-body scan.
“At first, they said they wanted to keep an eye on it,” Jenner explained. But during a follow-up scan the next year, the spot had grown slightly.
Her doctor, Dr. Thaïs Aliabadi, said that growth after menopause can be concerning. She explained that ovarian cysts are more common and usually harmless in younger women because they can be linked to ovulation. After menopause, however, women are no longer ovulating, so doctors pay closer attention to any new growths on the ovaries.
Although the cyst turned out to be benign, Jenner decided to move forward with surgery.
“I didn’t want to risk future medical complications,” she said. “I just wanted to take care of it.”
Jenner underwent a 22-minute hysterectomy, a procedure that removes the uterus. The experience was shown during the 2024 season of The Kardashians on Hulu.
After the surgery, Jenner said she felt confident she had made the right choice.
“It was the best decision I ever made,” she said.
During the podcast, Jenner and Dr. Aliabadi also reflected on Jenner’s pregnancies. The mother of six said most of them were smooth, although she developed gestational diabetes while pregnant with her youngest daughter, Kylie Jenner.
Jenner joked that her diet may have played a role, saying she “ate too many donuts.”
