On Monday, Ortiz-Magro posted several Instagram Stories focused on mental health and depression. Some posts highlighted May as Mental Health Awareness Month, while others discussed topics like “high-functioning depression.” He also shared a video of NBA player Kyrie Irving Speaking about accepting imperfection and being human.
Ortiz-Magro added his own notes, encouraging people to support one another. He wrote, “You’re not alone,” and urged followers to be kind to those who may be struggling. He also pointed out that mental health challenges can affect anyone, including public figures and single parents like himself.
These posts come shortly after Sorrentino expressed concern about Ortiz-Magro’s behavior during a recent group interview. In April, Ortiz-Magro appeared disoriented and was seen nodding off during a SiriusXM appearance with the cast. On May 1, Sorrentino addressed the situation on Instagram, saying he was troubled by what he saw but made clear he is not responsible for his castmate’s actions.
Ortiz-Magro has previously spoken about his struggles. In 2019, he entered a treatment program in Florida to address alcohol abuse and depression, saying he wanted to improve himself and be a better father.
He also stepped away from Jersey Shore: Family Vacation in 2021 following a domestic violence arrest. After making occasional appearances in later years, he returned full-time in 2024 with support from Sorrentino.
The show is set to return for its ninth and final season on May 7.
