Matt Reeves Confirms Star-Studded Cast for The Batman Part II Ahead of 2027 Release

Matt Reeves has officially confirmed several new and returning cast members for The Batman Part II, which is scheduled to release on Oct. 1, 2027.

The director revealed the cast through a series of posts on social media, using GIFs to introduce each actor.

Among the biggest additions are Sebastian Stan and Scarlett Johansson. Stan, known for playing the Winter Soldier in Marvel films, is expected to play Harvey Dent, the Gotham attorney who later becomes the villain Two-Face. Johansson was also confirmed, though her role has not yet been announced.

Reeves also confirmed that Game of Thrones actor Charles Dance has joined the movie. Reports say he may play Christopher Dent, Harvey Dent’s father.

Other new cast members include German actor Sebastian Koch and Eternals star Brian Tyree Henry.

Several actors from 2022’s The Batman will return for the sequel. Robert Pattinson is back as Bruce Wayne/Batman, alongside Jeffrey Wright as Jim Gordon, Andy Serkis as Alfred Pennyworth, Colin Farrell as Oz Cobb/The Penguin, Jayme Lawson as Mayor Bella Reál, and Gil Perez-Abraham as Officer Martinez.

Fans compared Reeves’ casting rollout to Marvel’s recent Avengers: Doomsday announcements, but Reeves used his own style by posting separate GIFs and messages for each actor.

Reeves has also been teasing parts of the sequel online. Earlier this month, he shared test footage of the Batmobile driving through snow and another clip showing an explosion.

The screenplay was written by Reeves and Mattson Tomlin, who previously worked on Terminator: Zero. Reeves has hinted that the main villain in the film is a character who has “never really been done in a movie before.”

The story of The Batman Part II will continue after the events of HBO’s series The Penguin. According to the creative team, the show directly connects the first Batman film to the sequel.

Reeves also suggested that Colin Farrell’s Penguin could eventually come into conflict with Batman again, saying the story is far from over.
