Tim Allen Criticizes Lawmakers Over King Charles Speech and “No Kings” Protests

Comedian Tim Allen criticized U.S. lawmakers after King Charles III spoke to Congress this week, pointing out what he saw as a contradiction involving recent protests against President Donald Trump.

King Charles delivered a historic speech on Tuesday to a joint session of Congress, marking his first address as monarch. After the event, Allen posted on social media platform X, joking about how people who had joined “No Kings” protests were not reacting to the presence of an actual king. He suggested it would have been interesting to see how protesters responded during the speech.

Allen’s post gained significant attention online, drawing tens of thousands of views. Some users echoed his point, saying it was ironic that people protesting against Trump as a “king” were also applauding a real monarch.

Florida Republican Representative Greg Steube made a similar comment online, noting that those criticizing Trump were not protesting during King Charles’ visit. The official White House X account also joined the discussion by posting a photo of Trump with King Charles and captioning it “TWO KINGS.”

The “No Kings” protests have taken place across the United States in 2026. Protesters argue that President Trump has acted with too much power, especially on issues like immigration and the use of federal agents in cities. One large protest in March drew millions of participants nationwide.

Some Democratic lawmakers who support the protests attended the king’s speech, including Representative Ilhan Omar of Minnesota. She had also spoken at a “No Kings” rally earlier in the year.

President Trump has rejected claims that he behaves like a king. In a recent interview, he said he is not a monarch and dismissed the comparison.

Tim Allen, known for roles in “Home Improvement” and as the voice of Buzz Lightyear in “Toy Story,” has been active on social media, where he often shares opinions on political and cultural issues.
