Kansas City Chiefs star Travis Kelce has become a minority investor in the Cleveland Guardians, according to ESPN. Kelce said investing in the MLB team is meaningful because he grew up in Cleveland and has a strong connection to the city.

Kelce said Cleveland helped shape his values and work ethic, adding that he wants to support both the team and the community. The Guardians are currently valued at about $1.7 billion, up from roughly $1 billion in 2022.

Kelce joins other high-profile athletes who own stakes in baseball teams, including Patrick Mahomes with the Kansas City Royals and LeBron James with the Boston Red Sox.

The NFL tight end has also been in the spotlight over his reported upcoming wedding to singer Taylor Swift, though no details about the ceremony have been confirmed.
