‘Euphoria’ Ends With Rue’s Shocking Overdose Death as Sam Levinson Confirms Series Finale

In Season 3 finale of Euphoria, Zendaya’s character Rue Bennett dies from a fentanyl-laced overdose after taking pills left out by crime boss Alamo Brown, who wanted her dead after learning she was an informant.

As Rue is dying, she dreams of being reunited with Fezco in a field. The scene carries added emotional weight because Angus Cloud, who played Fezco, died from an accidental overdose in 2023.

In a post-finale segment, creator Sam Levinson said Rue’s death felt like an “honest ending,” arguing that people struggling with addiction do not always survive.

Last week’s episode killed off Nate Jacobs, played by Jacob Elordi, and featured a topless scene involving Cassie Howard, played by Sydney Sweeney. Levinson confirmed that the episode serves as the series finale.
