Alexa Demie Says She Feared Losing Her Role if She Refused Nude Scenes in Euphoria

Alexa Demie, who plays Maddy Perez in HBO’s Euphoria, has revealed that she initially felt pressured to take part in nude scenes because she feared refusing could cost her the role.

Speaking to The Hollywood Reporter, Demie said no one directly pressured her, but as a young actress she believed saying no might affect her future on the show. After filming a scene in the first season, she realized she was uncomfortable and raised her concerns. She said the production team responded supportively, and she did not have to film similar scenes again.

Her comments come as Euphoria continues to face criticism over its graphic sexual content. Co-star Sydney Sweeney, who plays Cassie Howard, recently defended the show and creator Sam Levinson, saying the cast members are confident in speaking up if they are uncomfortable with any material.

The latest season has also sparked debate over violent and controversial scenes. Levinson defended his creative choices, saying he aims to give audiences the outcomes they expect while presenting them in a way that feels unsettling and thought-provoking.

Season 3 finale of Euphoria, ends with Rue Bennett (Zendaya) death from a fentanyl-laced overdose after taking pills left out by crime boss Alamo Brown, who wanted her dead after learning she was an informant.

Levinson confirmed that the episode serves as the series finale.
