Matt Brown, Former Alaskan Bush People Star, Found Dead at 42 in Washington

Matt Brown, a former star of Discovery Channel’s Alaskan Bush People, has died at age 42 in Washington state.

His brother, Bear Brown, announced on social media that Matt’s body was found in a river and was identified by family members. Authorities are still investigating the cause of death, but Bear said it appeared the injury may have been self-inflicted. Official findings from the coroner are pending.

Earlier in the week, Bear had said the family feared Matt had taken his own life. He also spoke about Matt’s long struggles with alcohol and drug addiction and said Matt had been largely estranged from the family in recent years.

Matt was the oldest son of Billy and Ami Brown and appeared in the early seasons of Alaskan Bush People, which aired from 2014 to 2022. He entered rehab in 2016 and publicly discussed his efforts to overcome alcohol addiction.

Bear asked fans to be respectful toward the Brown family and avoid posting negative comments online during this difficult time.
