Speaking on the Chris vs. the People podcast, the former ANTM judge criticized ex-creative director Jay Manuel for speaking negatively about Banks in the documentary and for writing his 2020 novel The Wig, The Bitch & The Meltdown, which many believe was inspired by the show and its host.
Cutrone said Banks was treated unfairly in the documentary and praised her and producer Ken Mok. She also rejected claims that the show was problematic during her time on the panel, saying she “didn’t see anything crazy” behind the scenes.
Manuel, who worked on ANTM for 18 seasons, alleged in the Netflix series that producers sometimes chose photos that fit storylines rather than contestants’ best images. He also suggested Banks may have been involved in his departure from the show.
The documentary has reignited debate about America’s Next Top Model, with former contestants, judges, and producers offering differing views on how the hit reality series was run.
