The actor, known for roles in Transformers and Ransom Canyon, said he intentionally avoids speaking publicly about his political views. According to Duhamel, the decision is both respectful to his audience and a practical business choice.
“I don’t want to alienate half my audience,” he explained during the interview. “People can believe what they want to believe. I’m just here to make cool stuff.”
Duhamel described his role in Hollywood as more about entertaining than influencing opinions. He referred to himself as a “court jester,” suggesting that actors should focus on their craft rather than lecturing audiences.
He also recalled a moment that stuck with him throughout his career—a friend greeting him at the airport wearing a shirt that read, “Nobody cares what actors think.” Duhamel said the message resonated because, in his view, it reflects how many people feel.
The conversation comes amid a broader shift in Hollywood, where some stars are stepping back from political commentary. During the interview, host Megyn Kelly mentioned that actors like Jennifer Lawrence and Sydney Sweeney have also expressed interest in focusing more on their work than on public debates. Duhamel agreed, saying he believes this trend should continue.
Despite avoiding political discussions, Duhamel remains busy professionally. He is currently starring alongside Minka Kelly in Ransom Canyon, a romantic Western drama streaming on Netflix.
He is also working on multiple upcoming projects. In the 2026 comedy Preschool, Duhamel will both direct and star in a story about two fathers competing for a spot at a prestigious school. Additionally, he is set to appear in the action-thriller London Calling.
As debates continue about the role of celebrities in political discourse, Duhamel’s comments add to a growing conversation about whether stars should use their platforms to speak out—or stay focused on entertainment.
