“Unbothered” Natasha Lyonne Parties in NYC After Airline Incident

Natasha Lyonne was back out in New York City this week, appearing relaxed and social just days after a chaotic incident aboard a cross-country flight drew widespread attention.

On April 9, the actress attended the New York premiere of the documentary Lorne. After the screening, she joined friends at an after-party, where she was seen chatting and laughing with fellow comedians Seth Meyers and Sarah Sherman. People at the event described her demeanor as calm and upbeat—noticeably different from reports tied to the earlier airline episode.

That incident occurred on April 7, when Lyonne was removed from a Delta red-eye flight traveling from Los Angeles to New York. According to multiple accounts, she was seated in first class and did not comply with flight crew instructions to stow her laptop and fasten her seatbelt as the plane prepared for takeoff. The aircraft had already begun taxiing before it returned to the gate so she could be escorted off.

Witnesses on board said Lyonne appeared confused during the interaction, at one point asking, “Where are we?” before leaving the plane with a gate agent. The delay reportedly lasted about an hour.

Lyonne addressed the situation a few days later on social media. She said she had taken the prescription sleep aid Lunesta shortly after boarding, intending to rest before a scheduled appearance on The Drew Barrymore Show. She suggested the medication contributed to her disorientation.

In the same series of posts, Lyonne also made an unexpected claim that she had been “detained” by Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), though she did not provide details. The statement raised questions online, as Lyonne is a U.S.-born citizen and ICE involvement in such a situation would be unusual.

She did, however, apologize to fellow passengers for the disruption and delay.

The episode comes during a period of renewed public attention for Lyonne. She recently appeared at the Euphoria Season 3 premiere in Los Angeles and has been open in recent months about her sobriety journey, including a relapse earlier this year. In March, she told fans she was “back on her feet.”

For now, her appearance in New York suggests a return to routine—at least publicly—even as questions linger about what exactly happened on that flight.
