Josh O’Connor says accidental text from Steven Spielberg helped him with scene in new UFO movie

Steven Spielberg is working on a new movie about UFOs called Disclosure Day, and one of its stars, Josh O’Connor, recently shared a surprising story from the set.

O’Connor said he was preparing for an emotional scene during filming but was having trouble getting it right. Spielberg gave him some advice, which helped, but O’Connor still felt unsure. Later that night, he received a text message from Spielberg that said, “The door is on the latch, just push.”

The message helped O’Connor understand how to approach the scene. He said it made him realize his character’s emotions were ready to come out, like a door that only needs a small push to open. The next day, he thanked Spielberg for the advice.

However, Spielberg was confused. It turned out the text message was actually meant for his wife, not for O’Connor. The mix-up became a joke on set, but O’Connor said it still helped him perform the scene.

Disclosure Day is Spielberg’s 37th film as a director and continues his interest in stories about extraterrestrial life. His past films in this area include E.T., Close Encounters of the Third Kind, and War of the Worlds.

The movie stars Josh O’Connor, Emily Blunt, Colin Firth, and Colman Domingo. Not much is known yet about the story, but early footage has shown small alien-like creatures and human characters interacting with them.

The film is scheduled to be released on June 12.
