Sydney Sweeney’s Cameo Cut From The Devil Wears Prada 2 Over “Creative” Editing Decision

Sydney Sweeney’s cameo in The Devil Wears Prada 2 has been cut from the final version of the film, according to multiple entertainment outlets. The removal is being described by the studio as a standard creative decision made during post-production.

Sweeney had filmed a brief, three-minute appearance as herself. In the scene, her character was being styled for a gala by Emily Charlton, played by Emily Blunt, who is portrayed in the sequel as a senior executive at Dior’s U.S. division. Sources cited by publications such as Variety and Entertainment Weekly say the scene was removed because it did not fit კარგად with the structure of the film’s opening sequence.

The sequel reportedly underwent several revisions following test screenings. Another role, played by Conrad Ricamora as Andy Sachs’ roommate, was also cut. Feedback suggested that Andy, now further along in her career, would not plausibly still have a roommate, prompting the change.

Despite the official explanation, the decision has sparked speculation online. Some social media users have linked the cut to recent controversies involving Sweeney, including viral discussions about her personal associations and advertising campaigns. These claims remain unverified, and there has been no indication from the studio that political or public relations considerations influenced the edit.

Industry observers note that Sweeney remains a commercially successful actor, which would make a purely reputational removal less typical for a major studio release.

The Devil Wears Prada 2 is scheduled for a worldwide theatrical release on May 1, 2026. The film will see the return of original cast members Meryl Streep, Anne Hathaway, Emily Blunt, and Stanley Tucci. Confirmed appearances include Lady Gaga, who also contributed a song to the soundtrack, as well as fashion figures Donatella Versace and Naomi Campbell.
