Taylor Momsen Treated for Venomous Spider Bite While Touring in Mexico City

Taylor Momsen, lead singer of The Pretty Reckless, was treated for a venomous spider bite while touring in Mexico City this week, adding to a string of unusual onstage incidents during her time opening for AC/DC.

Momsen said a “massive spider” bit her leg while she was in Mexico for the band’s “Power Up” tour. According to her account, the bite caused a significant reaction and required immediate medical attention. She later shared a video on Instagram showing local medical staff administering an injection shortly before she went on stage at Estadio GNP Seguros on April 7.

Despite the situation, Momsen maintained a light tone. In the video, she joked about whether the bite would give her “superpowers,” and referenced comic book characters in her caption.

The incident follows a similar encounter in May 2024 in Seville, Spain, when a bat flew onto the stage and attached itself to her dress during a performance of “Witches Burn.” Momsen initially did not realize what had happened until audience members reacted. She later received a full course of rabies vaccinations as a precaution.

Even with the recent spider bite, Momsen completed her scheduled performance in Mexico City, delivering a full 10-song set. The Pretty Reckless is expected to continue touring with AC/DC through the summer, with North American dates beginning in July.

The band is also preparing for the release of its upcoming album, Dear God, set to be released on June 26.
