Blake Lively Returns to 2026 Met Gala in Archival Versace Gown Inspired by Art and Family

Blake Lively returned to the Met Gala in 2026 after last attending in 2022. This was her 11th time at the event. She wore a vintage Atelier Versace gown from the brand’s spring 2006 collection.

Lively said it felt meaningful to return after having her fourth child. She explained that each year she feels like a different version of herself, and attending the event again gave her a chance to celebrate that growth. At the same time, she said she values spending quiet time at home with her children.

The dress followed the event’s “Fashion Is Art” theme. It featured soft pastel colors and detailed designs inspired by 18th-century Venetian Rococo paintings. The bodice was decorated with gemstones in shades of pink, yellow, coral, and lilac. The skirt was long and flowing, with fabric that looked like a painted sunset. Structured details at the hips were designed to resemble elements of Baroque architecture.

Lively chose the archival piece because she sees fashion as a form of storytelling. She said wearing a design with history felt special and meaningful.

She paired the gown with a custom clutch by Judith Leiber Couture. The bag included artwork created by her four children, making it a personal accessory for the night.

Donatella Versace praised Lively’s look, calling it another iconic moment for the actress in Versace at the Met Gala. Lively has worn several memorable Versace designs at past events, including her 2022 gown inspired by the Statue of Liberty.

Lively said working on the look with her children made the experience even more meaningful, as it allowed her to combine fashion with family.
