Olivia Wilde Jokes About “Not Dead” Rumors After Interview Criticism

Olivia Wilde is responding to online criticism about her appearance during a recent film festival interview.

The 42-year-old actress and director attended the San Francisco International Film Festival on April 24 to promote her new movie, The Invite. After clips from her interview with the San Francisco Chronicle spread online, some viewers made negative comments about how she looked on camera.

On May 2, Wilde posted a video on her Instagram Stories to address the situation. In the clip, she joked with her brother, Charlie Cockburn, who teased her by asking if she wanted to respond to rumors that she looked like a “resurrected corpse.”

Wilde laughed off the comments and said the camera lens was to blame. She explained that a fish-eye lens, which can distort images, made her look unusual in the interview. She admitted it was not her best look but emphasized that the image was misleading. She ended the video humorously by saying, “I’m not dead.”

The original interview had drawn attention online, with some people criticizing the camera work and others making jokes comparing her to fictional characters.

The Invite is Wilde’s third film as a director. It follows a couple who host a dinner party that leads to unexpected events. The movie stars Wilde along with Seth Rogen, Penélope Cruz, and Edward Norton. It premiered as the opening-night film at the festival and previously received a strong response at the Sundance Film Festival.
