Chris Brown Security Guard Says He Paid Ex-Housekeeper Nearly $40K After Alleged Dog Attack

Chris Brown’s security supervisor testified that he gave nearly $40,000 to the singer’s former housekeeper after she claimed Brown’s dog attacked her in 2020.

In a deposition for the ongoing civil lawsuit, security guard Emil Lewis said he gave Maria Avila and her family between $30,000 and $40,000 in cash and personal checks around Christmas 2020. Lewis said he paid the money because he felt sorry for the family and never discussed it with Brown.

Avila is suing Brown for $90 million, claiming the dog attack caused serious injuries. Brown’s legal team argues the payments show Lewis accepted responsibility for the incident.

Avila’s lawyers want the judge to block the payment evidence from trial, saying it does not prove whether the attack happened or who is liable. A judge has not yet decided whether the testimony will be allowed.

The trial is scheduled to begin on June 15.
