Jimmy Kimmel Mocks RFK Jr. Over Misspelled Attack on Late-Night Comedy

Jimmy Kimmel mocked Health and Human Services Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr. after Kennedy praised a social media post criticizing liberal late-night comedy.

On May 23, Kennedy shared a satirical essay on X that attacked hosts like Kimmel and Stephen Colbert. In the post, Kennedy also repeated a claim that Kimmel once said, “It’s not my job to be funny.”

Kimmel responded on Instagram by correcting Kennedy’s spelling of the word “nadir,” which Kennedy had written as “nader.” Kimmel wrote, “It’s ‘nadir’ dummy. Now get back to spreading polio.”

The quote Kennedy referenced does not appear to be real. Reports say it likely came from a satire article published by the Babylon Bee.

Kimmel recently said on Michelle Obama’s podcast that he enjoys comedy but also believes it is important to discuss current events and politics on his show.

The exchange came shortly after Stephen Colbert ended his 11-year run as host of The Late Show. His final episode featured guests including Paul McCartney, Jon Stewart, John Oliver, and Jimmy Kimmel.
