Kimmel compared Pratt’s political rise to Donald Trump’s 2016 presidential campaign, saying both gained attention by tapping into public frustration and using fame to stay relevant. He said many Los Angeles residents are unhappy with city leadership, especially after the devastating Palisades fire, and Pratt has gained support by speaking about those concerns.
Pratt, known for The Hills and other reality shows, recently launched a mayoral campaign focused on criticizing Mayor Karen Bass, the Los Angeles City Council, and California Governor Gavin Newsom over their handling of the fires.
Kimmel argued that Pratt is seeking publicity rather than seriously wanting to govern. He questioned Pratt’s qualifications, noting that the mayor oversees a $14 billion city budget. He also referenced Pratt and his wife Heidi Montag spending most of their fortune in 2011 because they believed the world would end in a Mayan apocalypse.
Kimmel urged voters to choose a more experienced candidate, even if they do not support Bass.
Pratt responded on X with a short message: “Jimmy’s secretly voting for me.”
