William Bumpus Apologizes Again After Gayle King Revisits Past Affair Story

Gayle King’s ex-husband, William Bumpus, has apologized again after King recently spoke publicly about his past cheating during an appearance on the “Call Her Daddy” podcast.

King said she caught Bumpus with one of her friends in their home in 1990 while their two young children were there with a nanny. The couple divorced in 1993 after 11 years of marriage.

In a statement to TMZ, Bumpus said he was deeply sorry for the pain he caused King, their children, and grandchildren. He said King had every right to share her story and praised her for helping them successfully co-parent over the years.

Bumpus also thanked King for supporting him during law school and said they remain on good terms today. He called himself a longtime admirer of her success and said he continues trying to be “the best version” of himself.

This is not the first time Bumpus has apologized publicly. He made similar comments in 2016 after King discussed the affair in a Vanity Fair interview.

King said she and Bumpus are now friendly at family gatherings and that she gets along with his current girlfriend.
