Young MC Drops Out of Freedom 250 Concert Over Political Concerns

Young MC has pulled out of the Freedom 250 concert series in Washington, D.C., saying he does not want to be part of a politically charged event.

The “Bust a Move” rapper announced on Facebook that he told his agents he will no longer perform at the June 26 “I Love the ’90s” show on the National Mall. He said artists were not informed about any political connections when they agreed to join the event.

Young MC said reports describing the celebration as “Trump-backed” influenced his decision, despite organizers calling the event non-partisan.

Singer Morris Day also announced he will not perform at the event.

Other artists still scheduled for the ’90s-themed concert include C+C Music Factory, Vanilla Ice, and Milli Vanilli.

The Freedom 250 concert series runs from June 25 to July 10 as part of celebrations for the United States’ 250th anniversary.
