Veteran Actor Beau Starr Dies of Natural Causes


American actor Beau Starr has died at the age of 81.

According to TMZ, his younger brother Mike confirmed that Starr passed away from natural causes at his home in Vancouver. Mike described him as “very unique and special.”

Starr was best known for playing Sheriff Ben Meeker in the horror films Halloween 4: The Return of Michael Myers (1988) and Halloween 5: The Revenge of Michael Myers (1989). He also appeared in the 1990 film Goodfellas, where he played the abusive father of Henry Hill, a character portrayed by Ray Liotta.

Over his career, Starr appeared in many well-known films, including Fletch, Speed, Cinderella Man, Devil in a Blue Dress, and Born on the Fourth of July.

He began his career on the Canadian sketch comedy show Bizarre and later had guest roles on many popular TV series such as Knight Rider, The A-Team, MacGyver, Three’s Company, Night Court, Matlock, Moonlighting, and Murder, She Wrote.

One of his most notable television roles was Lieutenant Harding Welsh on the BBC series Due South, which aired from 1994 to 1999. He appeared in nearly every episode of the show. Starr also starred in the NBC crime drama True Blue in 1989, playing Lieutenant Bill Triplett.

Starr is remembered for his long career in film and television, often portraying law enforcement characters.
