Kathy Hilton Steps Down as WeHo Pride Parade Grand Marshal Following Backlash

Kathy Hilton will no longer serve as the Grand Marshal Icon for the 2026 WeHo Pride Parade in West Hollywood, California, after criticism from some LGBTQ+ community members and organizations.

City officials and WeHo Pride announced the decision on June 3, saying feedback from the community sparked discussions about the role and significance of Pride honorees. Indigenous Pride LA had previously withdrawn from participating, arguing that Hilton's selection did not reflect the values they believe Pride should represent.

Critics pointed to Hilton's reported ties to President Donald Trump and the MAGA movement. Questions were also raised about past allegations from Real Housewives of Beverly Hills castmate Erika Jayne, who claimed Hilton used a homophobic slur. Hilton has denied the accusation.

In a statement, Hilton said she respected the conversations surrounding her selection and remains committed to supporting LGBTQ+ causes. She highlighted her involvement with organizations including GLAAD, the Elton John AIDS Foundation, the Elizabeth Taylor AIDS Foundation, God's Love We Deliver, and Project Angel Food.

Hilton said Pride is about celebrating and uplifting LGBTQ+ voices and described WeHo Pride as an important event that holds a special place in her heart.

The 2026 WeHo Pride Parade is scheduled for Sunday on Santa Monica Boulevard and will proceed without a Grand Marshal Icon honoree.
