Peabo Bryson Dies at 75 Following Stroke, Family Confirms

Peabo Bryson, the Grammy-winning singer known for Disney hits “Beauty and the Beast” and “A Whole New World,” has died at the age of 75.

Bryson passed away on June 2 after suffering a stroke, surrounded by his family. His family thanked fans for their support and said his music and legacy will continue to inspire future generations.

Born in Greenville, South Carolina, Bryson built a successful career in R&B and soul music, releasing 20 studio albums and earning eight Grammy nominations. He became famous for his duets, including collaborations with Roberta Flack, Natalie Cole, Céline Dion, and Regina Belle.

His duet with Dion, “Beauty and the Beast,” became a major hit in 1991 and won a Grammy. A year later, “A Whole New World” with Belle reached No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100, becoming the first song from an animated film to achieve the feat.

Bryson survived a heart attack in 2019 and later recovered. He is survived by his wife, Tanya Boniface, and his two children.
