Riley Green Says He Resisted Jumping Into Crowd After Fan Threw Phone at Him During Concert

Riley Green says he had to hold back from reacting after a fan threw a cellphone at him during a concert in Melbourne, Australia, in March.

The phone hit the country singer in the face, splitting his ear open and leaving him bleeding on stage. Despite the injury, Green continued performing and later received five stitches.

Speaking to Billboard, Green admitted he briefly thought about jumping into the crowd but decided against it. He said he did not want one person's actions to ruin the show for fans who had paid to be there.

Videos from the incident showed Green pointing out the fan, who was then removed from the venue, before he returned to the stage and finished the performance.

Green said his upbringing and maturity helped him stay calm in the situation. The 37-year-old added that handling fame requires patience and self-control.

The singer has enjoyed major success recently, winning multiple CMA Awards and an ACM Award, while also making his first major television appearance in the Yellowstone spinoff Marshals.
