As of Wednesday morning, incumbent Mayor Karen Bass leads with 34.8% of the vote, while Pratt is in second place with 30.4%. City Councilwoman Nithya Raman follows in third with 22.3%.
Since no candidate has received more than 50% of the vote, the top two candidates are expected to move on to a runoff election on November 3. However, the results could still change as more votes are counted, and Raman remains within reach of second place.
The campaign has already seen tensions between Bass and Pratt. Pratt previously accused Bass of campaigning too close to polling locations, while Bass criticized viral AI-generated videos supporting Pratt, saying they promote violence.
If the current standings hold, Bass and Pratt will face off in the November election to decide Los Angeles' next mayor.
