Jennifer Lopez Returns to Rom-Coms With Raunchy Netflix Film Office Romance

Jennifer Lopez is returning to romantic comedies, but this time with a sharper edge.

On April 10, 2026, Lopez shared a nostalgic Instagram post featuring behind-the-scenes photos from her 2002 film Maid in Manhattan. The post was meant to build anticipation for her upcoming Netflix movie, Office Romance, which she says marks a new chapter in her career.

Unlike her earlier romantic comedies, Lopez has made it clear that this project will not be “sweet” or family-friendly. Instead, she describes the film as leaning into adult humor, with a tone closer to R-rated comedies like Knocked Up and There’s Something About Mary. The shift signals a more modern and less polished approach to the genre.

Office Romance follows two driven professionals who begin a secret relationship at work. Lopez stars alongside Brett Goldstein, known for Ted Lasso. Their characters struggle to balance their careers with their growing feelings, leading to personal and professional complications.

Goldstein also co-wrote the script with Joe Kelly. The supporting cast includes Betty Gilpin, Tony Hale, Amy Sedaris, Bradley Whitford, and Edward James Olmos. Olmos’ involvement is notable, as it marks his first on-screen collaboration with Lopez since Selena nearly three decades ago.

The film is directed by Ol Parker, whose previous work includes Mamma Mia! Here We Go Again and Ticket to Paradise. Production wrapped earlier this year after filming in New Jersey and Los Angeles, and the project is currently in post-production.

Office Romance is expected to premiere on Netflix in summer 2026. Lopez has described the project as part of her “Rom-Com era,” framing it as both a return to familiar territory and a departure into more mature storytelling.
