Amy Grant Opens Up About Health Struggles and Recovery with Support from Vince Gill

Singer Amy Grant says recent health problems have changed her life, but her husband, Vince Gill, has helped her stay positive.

Grant, 65, spoke on NPR about the challenges she has faced since 2020. These include open-heart surgery, a brain injury from a 2022 bike accident, and surgeries on her throat and shoulder. The brain injury caused memory loss, balance issues, and affected her ability to respond quickly in conversations.

She said she once worried she might not fully recover. Gill reminded her that life can change suddenly for anyone and encouraged her to focus on living each day as it comes.

Grant also had to relearn how to sing after her injury. She said the experience has been difficult, especially since she enjoys humor and quick conversation, which are harder for her now.

Despite these setbacks, Grant has returned to touring and is releasing a new album, The Me That Remains, on May 8. She said the album reflects her current stage of life and was inspired by seeing audiences her own age and thinking about what people are going through as they grow older.

Grant has been married to Gill since 2000. She has three children from a previous marriage and one daughter with Gill.
