Beau Garrett reunites with former acting coach Taylor Sheridan in The Madison

Actress Beau Garrett says her new role in the TV series The Madison feels like a full-circle moment, thanks to creator Taylor Sheridan.

Speaking at a panel event in New York City on April 22, Garrett shared that more than 20 years ago, Sheridan was her acting coach when they were both just starting their careers. At the time, she was struggling financially and took coaching sessions with him because he was affordable and highly recommended.

Garrett said she liked Sheridan right away, but the two later lost contact. Over the years, Sheridan became a major television creator, while Garrett stepped away from acting for a period. She got married, had a child, and moved to a remote island, believing her acting career might be over.

That changed when she received an unexpected chance to audition for The Madison. After submitting a self-taped audition, she felt it wasn’t her best work and asked for another opportunity. Casting director John Papsidera allowed her to try again.

Garrett later learned that the role had nearly gone to someone else. However, Sheridan was encouraged to watch her audition tape and recognized her. She was then invited to audition in person in Wyoming.

Soon after, Sheridan personally called her with the news that she got the role. Garrett described the moment as overwhelming and surreal. She later realized she would be playing the daughter of Kurt Russell’s character in the series.

Now part of the cast alongside actors like Michelle Pfeiffer, Garrett says she feels very fortunate. She described the show as emotional and meaningful, focusing on themes like family, grief, and human connection.

Sheridan’s skills as an acting coach were also praised by actress Nicole Kidman, who said he can give simple but powerful advice to help shape a performance.

The Madison premiered in March and has already been renewed for a third season.
