Charlize Theron Says Her Kids Will Have to Work for What They Get

Charlize Theron says she plans to raise her children to be independent and responsible, not reliant on her fame or money.

In a recent conversation on the Therapuss podcast with host Jake Shane, the Oscar-winning actress shared that her daughters, Jackson, 14, and August, 11, will not be given expensive cars or an easy path in life. Instead, she wants them to earn things through effort and experience.

Theron said their first car will likely be something simple and used, joking that new drivers are bound to make mistakes. She emphasized the importance of learning and earning rewards over time rather than getting everything upfront.

She also confirmed that her children will be expected to work when they are older. Using trips to Starbucks as an example, she pointed out the value of being disciplined and friendly on the job, even early in the morning.

Theron explained that her goal is to teach her children self-sufficiency so they can support themselves as adults. She made it clear that she does not intend to financially support them for their entire lives.

The actress, who adopted both of her children, has often spoken openly about her parenting choices. In a previous interview, she described becoming a single mother as one of the healthiest decisions she has made.

Theron also addressed criticism about raising children on her own. She said she believes she is doing what works best for her family and that her children will one day share their own perspectives.

For now, she says she is happy with her life and values the independence she has as a parent.
