In a Facebook post, Tanya said it was very painful not being given a chance to see her father one last time. She also asked to be informed about any funeral plans so she can attend.
Tanya spoke about their relationship, saying they had been out of contact for years. She explained that she had described it as “estrangement,” but now feels that word was misunderstood. She said she did not choose to cut off her father. Instead, she claims he stopped reaching out and made it difficult for her to contact him, despite her efforts.
She also addressed rumors about family conflicts over money, saying those claims are untrue. Tanya said her father had eight children and that all of them lost contact with him over time.
Tanya asked people to be respectful, saying she and her siblings are grieving. She added that she believes her father would not approve of the negative comments directed at his children.
David Allan Coe became well known in the 1970s as part of the outlaw country movement. Some of his earlier work was criticized for offensive content, though he later defended his music.
