The show, based on Elle Kennedy’s popular book series, became Amazon’s third biggest series debut ever, with 36 million views in 12 days. Bright, 19, plays songwriter Hannah, while Cameli, 28, plays college hockey star Garrett.
Some viewers questioned the show’s intimate scenes and “partial nudity” because of the actors’ ages. Speaking on the Not Skinny But Not Fat podcast, Bright said she fully understood the role before accepting it and felt comfortable throughout filming.
“I came into this job with enough information and understanding of what this role required,” she said, adding that she never felt uncomfortable or excluded because she was younger than the rest of the cast.
Bright also said the cast was clearly informed about the show’s romantic and nude scenes during the audition process. She praised her co-stars and described the set as supportive and professional.
Created by Louisa Levy, Off Campus follows the lives and relationships of elite college hockey players. The series has already been renewed for a second season.
