Rodrigo, 23, said that White—best known for songs like “Seven Nation Army” and “Icky Thump”—left her a hidden note in her Saturday Night Live dressing room after performing on the show in April. At first, she didn’t think he would actually follow through, even though he had mentioned the idea earlier.
Later, White texted her with a clue, telling her to “look up” because she would find something. That message led Rodrigo to search her dressing room. She said she went as far as lifting ceiling tiles and checking different spots around the room.
Eventually, she found an envelope taped to the top of a cabinet. Inside was a yellow flower and a handwritten note from White that said, “Kill it kid. Love, Jack White.” Rodrigo described the gesture as sweet and said she now considers it a good luck charm.
Rodrigo also confirmed during the interview that she will both host and perform on Saturday Night Live this week. She plans to sing her song “Drop Dead” along with a new, unreleased track from her upcoming album, You Seem Pretty Sad for a Girl So in Love.
