In a social media post Tuesday, the comedian and actress explained that she once believed facelifts went against feminism and accepting aging. But after losing 50 pounds, she said she felt her appearance had changed in a way she was unhappy with.
O’Donnell said her decision became more personal after talking with her 13-year-old daughter, who initially disapproved of the idea. She ultimately concluded that women should have the freedom to make choices about their own bodies without being judged.
The former talk show host said she wanted subtle results and chose a doctor whose work on friends looked natural. She joked that almost no one noticed the change, which she called “the best possible outcome.”
Many commenters praised O’Donnell for openly discussing her evolving views on aging, beauty, and feminism.
O’Donnell moved to Ireland in 2025 after Donald Trump returned to the presidency. The two have had a long public feud.
